Mike "Starfish" Suskin
Kids Program Instructor, Co-Owner, and Business Manager
One day in the late spring of 2019, Mike was working out at Exile Fitness and decided to pop in to Ground Control next door out of curiosity. Having heard some of the amazing benefits of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, he enrolled in his free trial week. That's where he was bitten by "the jiu-jitsu bug", and he ended up doing over 12 hours of classes in the first week alone.
Mike started out with his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park, and has enjoyed successes working Sales Engineering and Technical Sales careers ever since.
Mike is a Blue Belt under John Rallo, the founder of Ground Control and a long-time pioneer in the Maryland Mixed Martial Arts scene. John is another one of the earlier black belts under Renzo Gracie. As for why they call him "Starfish"...you'll just have to ask him!
Mike speaks intermediate Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, and Spanish.
